Life Education Centre seeks and creates opportunities for people of different backgrounds to come together in meaningful ways. We organized one such special event called “Connecting Thread” for the 50th anniversary of Auroville that brought together 25 participants from different nationalities to make a collective quilt. The event proved to be invaluable as it was an opportunity for exchange of culture, skills and beliefs and paved ways for discussions and ultimately goodwill and unity.
When people look at the finished quilt that decorates the main room of LEC, they connect with the concept and some of them share their own experiences. An African American woman who came to visit as part of a group led by Daniel Greenberg related how quilting is a big part of her tradition as well and the potential it has for bringing the community together.
